Our Spon End consultation event took place yesterday

Yesterday (Wednesday 18 May) we held a consultation event for customers on our proposed plans to transform Spon End.

Last week we announced our proposed plans that will see an investment of £120million to transform the Spon End estate in Coventry.

The proposed plans include an ambitious £120million redevelopment programme of the below areas which will see us build 750 new homes over the next ten years.

  • Kerry House / Milestone House / Trafalgar House
  •  Spon Gate House
  • Grindlay House / Drinkwater House / George Poole House
  • Gardner House / Fennel House / Winslow House / Corrie House and Givens House
  • Wellington Gardens / Sherbourne Street and Upper Spon Street (85-99).

The consultation event was an opportunity for customers to hear more about our proposed plans and give us their feedback.

Our Director of Regeneration Kevin Roach said: “After careful consideration of all the options available we believe undertaking extensive redevelopment of Spon End will enable us to deliver the transformation our customers have told us they want to see.

“It was great to hear the communities’ thoughts on our proposed plans for Spon End today. Over 200 customers attended our event yesterday and so far, 80 percent of them support our proposed plans.

“We are in consultation with the community until Friday 10 June. Following an evaluation of the feedback we receive during the consultation period a report will be taken to our Board in the summer.

“We will then write to all customers to confirm the outcome of the consultation and the proposals that will be taken forward. I look forward to hearing further feedback on our proposed plans from the community.”

Our full proposed plans for Spon End are available on our website. There is also a form on the webpage where customers can submit their feedback.
