Spon End and Wyken information day held for potential developers

An information day has been held on Friday, 6 March, for potential contractors to find out more about our regeneration plans for Wyken and Spon End in Coventry.

Last year we announced the £33m regeneration project which will transform both areas.

In Wyken we will be transforming William Malcolm House and demolishing Vincent Wyles. We will then develop c93 homes on the vacant land.

In Spon End significant improvements will be made to three blocks – Kerry House, Milestone House and Trafalgar House. We are also exploring opportunities to build new affordable homes at the development.

Following the information day developers and contractors will bid for the work.

Our Director of Regeneration Services, Kevin Roach, said: “We’ve held this event to show potential bidders our vision and the scope of work we are proposing.

“Several developers and contractors who are interested in submitting bids for the £33m works attended on the day. Our lead consultant Baily Garner, who will be leading and supporting on the delivery of the projects, also attended.

“This event is the start of our process to select a contractor who will work with us on the project.”

Last month we appointed Baily Garner as the Lead Consultant for the Spon End and Wyken regeneration.

The developer partner for the project will be chosen in summer 2020 and work is set to start on the regeneration in mid-2021.
