Shared ownership helps you take a step onto the housing ladder without needing a hefty deposit.

 

You purchase a share of the property, a minimum of 25%, and only need to get a mortgage on that share. You then pay rent on the remaining share.

 

You can then buy more shares of the your home as and when you can and your rent will reduce as you do this.

You can increase the share you own via a process called staircasing at any time.

If you buy a 25% share you would only need to get a mortgage on £60,000 – bringing down the deposit you need significantly and keeping your mortgage low.
