Apprentices 2

Our newest apprentices have started at Citizen and took part in a learning and development session last week.

It’s the first time they have met together since joining us in October.

This year’s cohort includes Joshua Berry and Tommy Gallagher – who have joined us as electrical apprentices – and Millie Rose and Oliver Wright, who have started as building safety apprentices.

We had more than 500 applicants apply for our apprenticeship roles and held a recruitment day back in September to choose our candidates.

As well as their main qualification, each of our apprentices will be working through five key modules with our Learning and Development team over the next two years to support them with their introduction to working life, including effective communication skills, personal effectiveness, teamwork, and interview skills.

These sessions are also an opportunity for them to get to know each other and share the experience of being an apprentice.

Millie Rose, our new building safety apprentice, lives locally in Coventry.

She said: “My mum works in building safety so I’d picked up on what an interesting area of work it is.

"I started in October and so far, I’ve been given a real insight into the range of work Citizen does.

“I’m really happy to have been given the opportunity and I’m looking forward to my next two years of training."

Oliver Wright, from Wyken in Coventry, is currently based over at our Torrington office.

He said: “I've been made really welcome and I'm enjoying learning the ropes. I'm looking forward to the next two years learning on the job."

Ashley Jones, our Head of People Development said: “It's been great to welcome these young people to Citizen.

"We want to support them every step of the way so they develop real skills, confidence and accesses to future career pathways.

“With 18 apprentices currently working across Citizen, we’re proud to invest in local talent and continue strengthening our position as an employer of choice.

"We'll be opening up even more opportunities next year across a range of teams. It's part of our commitment to being an employer of choice for local people."
