Garage demolition work starts in Coventry
Work to remove dilapidated garages and create much needed parking for our customers has started.
This is part of our garage plan which will see 20 sites demolished across the West Midlands over the next year.
Our Asset Management team are working with Elford Demolition & Remediation on the project and have started to take down a block of 14 garages at Faseman Avenue in Tile Hill.
The aim is to improve the look of the area and to create a total of 14 new parking spaces. Work is due to be completed by the end of the month.
Our Project Manager Aimee Lane said the work is much needed.
She said: “The garages we’re demolishing were built at a different time when residents appreciated them for parking their car in.
“They’re rarely used for that purpose now and are often too small for modern cars. They’re unsightly in lots of cases and run the risk of becoming a focus for anti-social behaviour.
“By removing them we’ll be able to make these areas more attractive as well as create much needed parking for our customers. “There’s budget set aside for this work so we can really get on with it over the next year.
“It was great to see the first demolition take place today, knowing we’re making a real difference to our communities.”
