How we’re making our new bathrooms greener for the planet and our customers
At Citizen, our ambition is to be at the forefront of the environmental agenda. In July we launched our Sustainability Strategy, demonstrating our commitment to creating a cleaner, greener environment for our customers.
When considering major upgrades and sustainable households, bathrooms are often overlooked. However, we’re changing that. We’re pleased to announce that we’ve partnered with a new bathroom supplier, AKW. AKW will be our bathroom supplier for the next 10 years, working alongside Wates and Lovells to ensure that our developments across the West Midlands are both eco-friendly and efficient.
The average toilet consumes over 10,000 gallons of water per year. To combat this, we are installing AKW’s dual-flush systems and low-flow fixtures to help maximise water efficiency, reduce water usage, and lower costs.
Here’s how we’re making bathrooms greener:
- Low-flow toilets: these use considerably less water per flush, saving on water bills and conserving this precious resource.
- Low-flow showerheads: these manage water usage efficiently without compromising on functionality or comfort.
- Electric showers: By using an electric shower, energy consumption is reduced, as water is heated only as needed—leading to both cost savings and environmental benefits.
- Long product warranties: AKW’s long product warranties extend the lifespan of bathroom installations, to ensure durability and minimise waste.
- Recyclable materials: PVC wall panels and SMC formers and trays which are fully recyclable at specialist recycling centres, contributing to waste reduction and promoting a circular economy.
