Customers at a Coventry boxing club are benefitting from a new floor thanks to our partnership with Lovell.

We’ve been working with Lovell over the last three years as part of our programme to update kitchens and bathrooms.

Thanks to their social value project, Lovell donated a new floor to Bell Green ABC (Amateur Boxing Club), and we teamed up with Sonny Flooring LTD to fit it.

The boxing club is based at Bell Green Working Men’s Club and supports young people across the city by offering a safe and welcoming environment for people to stay active, build confidence and develop new skills.

We worked with Lovell to improve homes around the club – so the new floor will benefit those living in our communities.

The flooring work was completed over two days, with Lovell covering the refurbishment cost of £6,500 to transform the training space.

Our Asset Surveyor Macauley Williams said: “We have a great partnership with Lovell and we’d like to thank them for installing the new floor at the Bell Green Amateur Boxing Club.

“The club is based in an area where lots of our customers live, so we know they will benefit from this donation – especially as this has allowed the club to buy more kit for its members to use.

“We work with Lovell as part of our kitchen and bathroom programme – Lovell replace our kitchens and bathrooms in our customers’ homes when they’re no longer fit for purpose. We’re so grateful for their donation and we know our customers will be too. It’s so important to us to work with our partners to make a positive difference to our customers and it’s great to be doing this in Bell Green.”

The boxing club is incredibly significant to those living in the community and sessions are subsidised to £1.50.

Head Coach and Club Secretary, Damon Croft, said: “The club keeps kids off the streets and off their phones, they learn about discipline, and teamwork, and gain confidence, Lovell have really helped. We have kids with autism and cerebral palsy, and everyone is treated the same. They all go home tired – that’s for sure.”

Completing the refurbishment at no cost to the club has enabled Bell Green ABC to redirect its funds towards purchasing new equipment, further enhancing training opportunities and improving the overall experience for members.

Together, these improvements have strengthened the club’s role as a positive hub for young people, helping them stay active, engaged and connected with the local community.

One of those who uses the club and has benefitted from the donation is Fabion.

He said: “I come to the club all the time. I love it, and it’s what I want to do. I live really close and it’s great to have something like this to do.”

By investing in Bell Green Boxing Club, the partnership has helped make the training space better for members, while strengthening the club’s long term impact.

This support enables the club to continue inspiring and empowering young people in an area where access to affordable activities makes a meaningful difference.

Carl Yale, Central Regional Managing Director at Lovell Renew, said: “Making a positive impact on young people in the communities where we work is ‘the right thing to do’, it’s great to see young people gaining confidence and learning new skills at a club in the heart of the community, I’m really glad that our partnership with Citizen could support Bell Green ABC.”
