Standing together against division – we are Citizen
Date published: 16.10.25

The world around us can feel deeply divided.
We’ve seen tensions rising in areas across the country with regards to asylum seekers and incidents of verbal and physical abuse towards our colleagues and customers in some of our own communities. It’s troubling and distressing.
At Citizen, we provide homes and services to some of the most diverse communities in the West Midlands. We believe that being a Citizen means being part of a society where everyone is respected, included and safe. That belief is at the heart of everything we do.
We won’t tolerate hate, discrimination or violence. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and their community. That’s why we’re committed to creating neighbourhoods where people feel they belong – regardless of background, faith or identity.
Our values guide everything we do:
-
Brave: we speak out against injustice and poor behaviour.
-
Honest: we create spaces where people can be themselves, free from judgement or fear.
-
Ambitious: we work hard to build fairer, more empathetic communities.
-
Citizen: we do all of this together – united in our diversity.
At Citizen, we’re a diverse and inclusive organisation. We’ve always stood firmly against discrimination and intolerance and we always will.
If you’ve been affected or feel unsafe, there are ways to get help:
-
Report anti-social behaviour to us via My Account or call 0300 790 6555.
-
If you witness a crime or are in immediate danger, please call 999.
We believe in the power of community and we’re here to stand with all our customers and colleagues.
