Customers, local schools, and Citizen colleagues came together for our latest Tidy Friday event in Tile Hill, Coventry.

The community clean-up took place on Friday 20 March, focusing on areas including Nickson Drive and Gravel Hill.

The work focussed on helping to make the neighbourhood cleaner, greener and more welcoming. Volunteers worked together on a range of activities including litter picking, clearing bulk rubbish, improving outdoor spaces and planting new shrubs and flowers.

Local schools get involved

Pupils from Year 10 at West Coventry Academy were on work experience and got stuck in to help clear rubbish from sheds and green spaces.

Younger pupils from Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Primary School also played their part, by planting new shrubs and flowers to brighten up the neighbourhood.

A big clean-up with big results

Customers and pupils played a key role in the day’s success, helping to:

  • Fill 4 skips with rubbish and 12 van loads of bulky waste
  • Tackle fly-tipping in the area
  • Improve shared spaces for local people
  • Plant new shrubs and flowers
  • Support the community charity shop to dispose of rubbish before they move premises

Colleagues from Citizen were also joined by partners from Equans and Insight Surveyors, who support us on a range of projects, with dozens of people giving their time to support the clean-up.

More Tidy Fridays to come

Tidy Friday is part of an ongoing programme of community clean-up events taking place across Citizen neighbourhoods, helping to create places where people feel proud to live. Our next Tidy Friday will take place in Riley Square in Coventry on 17 April.
