We’re supporting 300 customers thanks to grab rail donation from AKW

We’re helping 300 customers across the West Midlands with adaptations to their homes thanks to a donation from AKW.
The accessible kitchen and bathroom company has provided us with 300 grab rails, as part of their social value project, which we will install in our homes.
One of our customers who has benefitted from grab rails is Ann Dodd who has had them installed in her bathroom and at the front and back of her home.
She said: “I am ever so pleased with them, especially the ones in the bathroom – it’s made a huge difference in helping me get in and out of the shower.
“I had an extra step put in the back garden and the grab rails were also put in which help me when I’m using the steps.”
The grab rails will be given to our Maintenance Operations Team to install in homes of our customers who need it.
Our Head of Property Services Richard Podmore said: “Thank you so much to AKW for this donation.
“By installing grab rails and other aids and adaptations like this, our customers will be able to continue to enjoy their homes and stay living in them for longer. This donation helps us to provide more adaptations to other customers at the same cost – meaning we can provide some extra help to customers who need extra support.
Sustainability Manager Lauren Jones from AKW said: “We were really pleased to be able to support this. Social value isn’t a ‘nice to have’ for us – it’s part of how we work day to day. Being able to use our products in a practical way that helps people stay safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes is what really matters to us. Working with partners like this means we can make a genuine difference in the communities we serve.”
