Citizen colleagues rolled up their sleeves for our latest Tidy Friday event in Coventry.
We brought together customers, partners and local councillors to make a real difference in Willenhall.
Around 50 people joined us across Tintagel, Cardiff, Little Farm and Rangemoor to help create a cleaner, greener neighbourhood for everyone. Together we:
- Litter picked to collect over 80 black bags of rubbish which filled 3 skips
- Filled 2 vans with bulky waste
- Planted new shrubs and turf to brighten shared spaces
- Cleaned and refreshed the communal square garden
- Ran activities for children, and offered food and sweet treats
- Provided an opportunity to chat and get advice from Citizen colleagues
The clean-up forms part of a year-long project focused on making Willenhall more welcoming and improving the environment for those who live there.
Customers getting involved
Lots of customers living in the community got involved and shared their hopes that the clean-up would encourage residents to think carefully about how and where they dispose of waste.
Eduard, a local customer, shared why he supports community clean-ups
He believes there are clear benefits, particularly in removing hazards like glass bottles and large objects.
Partnership in action
We were supported in Willenhall by colleagues and councillors from Coventry City Council.
We were also supported by colleagues from Equans
Equans are working with us on the refurbishment of 40 homes in Jardine Crescent, helping to make them warmer and more energy efficient.
Showing up in our communities
Being visible and accessible in our neighbourhoods is important to us. By hosting regular Tidy Friday events, it shows our commitment to investing in our communities to create positive change.
Our next Tidy Friday will take place in Tile Hill, Coventry on 20 March. We’ll share more details about how to get involved closer to the date on our Facebook page, so keep an eye out for updates there.
