Working with police to tackle anti-social behaviour in our communities
Date published: 28.01.26
We worked with officers from West Midlands Police today to evict a customer from a flat at Paul Stacey House, following reports of serious and ongoing antisocial behaviour.
The behaviour at the flat had been causing worry and disruption for neighbours over a number of months, including unwanted visitors and drug use.
Eviction is only ever used as a last resort.
Before this, we worked with West Midlands Police and other partner agencies to deal with the issues.
Teams visited the building, spoke with neighbours, offered support to the customer, and kept detailed records of incidents.
The police issued warnings, carried out enforcement activity, and increased foot and mobile patrols in the area to reassure residents and reduce risks.
This followed warrants and a number of arrests over the last year. When the issues continued, we obtained a court order to close the flat, with support from the police.
This was carried out today with court bailiffs.
Our Director of Housing Care and Support Peter Gill said: “Eviction is always a last resort. We never take it lightly and there is always a huge amount of work for our teams to do to justify this measure in front of the courts.
Sergeant Ian Powell from Hillfields Neighbourhood Policing Team added: “We have worked closely with Citizen to deal with concerns at this address over a number of months. Our Hillfields Neighbourhood Patrol Team is committed to working with partners including Citizen and with the local community to tackle anti-social behaviour and keep people safe.”
