What is the Citizen Local Fund?

The Citizen Local Fund is here to help you turn great ideas into real change in your community.

If you’ve got an idea that could make things better where you live, we’re here to support you.

You can apply for a grant of up to ÂŁ3,000 to help bring your project to life. Each year, we set aside funding for ideas that boost wellbeing, reduce loneliness, and bring people together.

Together, we can create stronger, more connected neighbourhoods.

We’re looking for ideas that help people feel happier, healthier, and more connected. Your project should aim to do at least one of the following:

  • Support physical or mental wellbeing

  • Reduce loneliness or isolation

  • Bring people together

  • Improve your local area

If your idea helps your community in any of these ways, you’re on the right track.

There’s no one-size-fits-all. We support all sorts of ideas, big and small. For example:

  • Community events or local get-togethers

  • Coffee mornings or social groups

  • Fitness or wellbeing sessions

  • Skills, training or workshops

  • Food support projects

  • Gardening or environmental activities

  • Projects that make your area feel safer

If it helps your community, we’d love to hear about it. No idea is too small, you can apply for any amount from ÂŁ50 up to ÂŁ3000

You can apply for anything from ÂŁ50 up to ÂŁ3,000.

We’ll always do our best to support great ideas. Sometimes we may offer part of the amount requested, depending on the project and funding available.

If you're a Citizen customer or you live in a Citizen community in the West Midlands, you can apply.

You might be someone with a great idea or part of a group already making a difference. What matters most is how your project will benefit local people.

To make sure the fund supports as many people as possible, there are a few things we don’t cover:

  • Profit-making businesses

  • Projects focused mainly on wages or ongoing running costs

  • Anything that doesn’t benefit local Citizen communities

If you’re unsure, we’re here to help, just ask.

Applying is simple by filling out the form on this page. We’ll just ask you to tell us:

  • What your idea is

  • Who it will help

  • Where it will take place

  • How much funding you need and what it will be used for

We may also ask for updates along the way, so we can see the difference your project is making and help you communicate what you're doing to other people.
