Our colleagues complete specialist damp and mould training qualification
Colleagues in our damp and mould team are one of the first in the country to complete a damp and mould qualification which will help improve customers’ experience.
The course is a National Open College Network level 2 accredited damp and mould qualification.
We partnered with Coventry College who provided training for the qualification. It included seven hours of classroom-based learning followed by an exam.
By completing the training, colleagues will have a better understanding of the root causes of damp and mould. It provides them with knowledge to identify, remedy and treat damp and mould in the home.
Our Learning and Development team arranged the training with Coventry College.
Director of Maintenance Operations at Citizen Steve Kirk said: “It’s fantastic that we are one of the first in the country to put our colleagues through this training and it’s great to partner with Coventry College on this qualification.
“Our colleagues will use the training to learn about the different types of damp and mould along with the remedies. They will also have a better understanding of diagnosing damp and mould so that repairs can be completed quicker.
“I’d like to thank the learning and development team, our Operations Manager Andy Stock and Coventry College for organising this training, and congratulations to all our colleagues who have completed the qualification. This will have a huge impact on our customers by ensuring we can deal with damp and mould in a more effective way.”
The course also builds our links with Coventry College who are also delivering training courses in energy efficiency works and kitchen and bathroom improvements.
Head Employer Engagement and Careers Lead at Coventry College, Emma Ingram, said: “Coventry College is fully committed to working with local and regional employers to ensure we support with the up-skilling of staff to meet government legislation. We were delighted to be given the opportunity to work collaboratively with Andy Stock, Citizen’s Operations Manager, to deliver a training programme which Citizen identified as a socially responsive landlord, and take a proactive approach to reduce the risk of damp and mould issues occurring in rented properties.”
