“My new house means so much to me, everything is perfect.”
Homes at our Thimblemill development in Smethwick have been completed and handed over to customers.
We worked with Tricas Construction and Buildfifty5 Living on the 24-home site which is all affordable housing.
Customer Mimoza Kingji moved into her home with her husband and three children and said she has been waiting for a home like this.
She said: “Everything is perfect about my new house, and it means a lot to me. We are very happy and it’s everything we wished for.
“We previously lived in a house in Smethwick but as my husband has back problems, it was very difficult to get him up and down the stairs.
“In our new home it is much better for us as we have a toilet on the first and second floor as well as living space – this means our home is a lot better suited to us.
“We also have our own garage which means we don’t have to park far away from the house, and this really helps my husband too.
“The house means so much to us as a family and is in a lovely quiet area too.”
The development is made up of 12 apartments, seven two-bedroom homes and five three-bedroom homes.
Our Executive Director of Development Nick Byrne said: “It’s brilliant to hear that Mimoza and her family love their new home at our Thimblemill development in Smethwick.
“We are pleased to see the development completed and have created more affordable housing in an area that was derelict for a number of years.
“It’s been good to work with Tricas Construction and Builtfifty5 Living on this development and hope that everyone who moves into the development enjoys living in their new home.”
The homes have been built on the former site of the Thimblemill pub which has been derelict for years and has been subject to vandalism.
Managing Director of Tricas Construction, Tom Broadway said: “We are delighted to have completed this development and to have handed over the new homes to customers.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Citizen on this development and Buildfifty5 Living who unlocked the opportunity. Thank you to everyone who has been involved.”
Kieran Danby, Director from Buildfifty5 Living said: “It’s fantastic to see the completed homes on the Thimblemill site which we first identified in 2019.
“The site had been overlooked on account of it being difficult to develop, but we overcame these challenges. We dared to be different and took a different approach with our procurement and design strategy.
“The success of this scheme demonstrates our approach works. Tricas were engaged from the beginning and worked alongside the design team to deliver the affordable development on time and within budget. We wish everyone who has made the scheme possible and the residents all the best.”
