We've reached a fantastic milestone, completing our 5,000th kitchen upgrade through our partnership with Lovell Partnerships and WPS.

The programme has helped improve homes across the West Midlands, creating modern kitchens that better meet customers' needs.

Some of our customers who have benefitted say that the transformation has meant so much to them.

Katrina Scott, who had a kitchen fitted by WPS, said: My kitchen was stripped right back and then the team put in some new units for me.

“Previously I didn’t have room so my pans used to be out on the side, the cooker was next to the sink and there was only a little bit of workspace. Now I have workspace either side of the cooker and it’s lovely.

“I think my new kitchen is fantastic, I sent some photos to my sister who works for a kitchen company and she said the finish is really lovely. I feel really lucky to have had this new kitchen, I have a prep area, a fan and the drawers are soft close – everything is so much better.”

Our second customer Clare Harper was also thrilled with her new kitchen.

She said: “My new kitchen is fab – I like it all and I couldn’t be happier with it.

“I moved into my home when my son was one and a half and now he’s 19 so my kitchen was very old and past its sell-by date. The new kitchen was installed in a couple of weeks and it’s brilliant now they’ve finished and the kitchen is back to normal – it’s nice to spend time in there now.”

We have worked with both companies as part of our planned investment project to upgrade our customers’ kitchens across the West Midlands when they have reached the end of their life and each company has completed 2,500 kitchens.

Bridget Guilfoyle, our Director of Asset Management, said: “We're incredibly proud to have reached this milestone after working alongside WPS and Lovell.

"The feedback we've received from customers shows the difference these improvements can make. A kitchen is one of the most important spaces in a home, and it's fantastic to hear how much customers are enjoying their new surroundings.

“We provide homes which are warm, safe and well maintained and we’ll continue to choose partners who share our ambitions so we can deliver more for our customers.

"Our investment programme will continue over the coming years, helping even more customers benefit from modern kitchens and bathrooms. We're looking forward to building on what we've achieved together and reaching the next milestone."

Matt Hickman, Partnerships Director for Lovell Renew, said: "This is a fantastic milestone with an incredible number of Citizen’s customers delighted with their new kitchens. It’s great to see the impact that better, safer, and healthier homes have on people’s lives. We have a brilliant team working in partnership with Citizen with a caring and people focused approach. Together it feels like we are making a real difference.’’

Stewart Reid, Managing Director at WPS, added: “Our mission is to create safer homes and stronger communities through smarter property solutions, so we’re delighted to have been part of these upgrades. We look forward to supporting Citizen to continue to improve homes for the future.”
