Blocks at Ferrers Close to be transformed into 50 affordable retirement living homes
Date published: 06.05.26
Our proposed plans will see the three existing blocks at Ferrers Close demolished and replaced with modern, energy-efficient homes that are designed to meet the needs of people aged over 55.
We decided to demolish the blocks, made up of 99 homes, after they were found to be difficult to heat and required significant investment to bring them up to a decent standard.
Improving the surrounding environment, including roads and parking, would also have required major work.
Those living nearby will have the chance to find out more about the proposals at a consultation event we’re hosting. They will also be able to share their views and help us shape the plans before a planning application is submitted.
Our Head of New Business, Jon Wood, said: “We’re pleased to share our proposals for the future of the Ferrers Close site.
“We’re proposing a retirement living scheme of 50 affordable homes for people over the age of 55. There’s a growing need for homes like this in Coventry, and we believe Ferrers Close is a suitable location.
“The existing blocks were hard to heat and would have required a very high level of investment to improve insulation and the surrounding environment. We reached the view that this would not deliver the best outcomes for customers.
The demolition of the tower blocks at Ferrers Close is due to start later this month and plans for the retirement living scheme will be submitted later this year.
